The Turner Doomsday Video is the internal title of an apocalypticism video intended to be broadcast by CNN at the end of the world. The video, created at the direction of CNN founder Ted Turner before the network’s 1980 launch, is a performance of the Christian hymn “Nearer, My God, To Thee” performed by multiple members of the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine bands.
It was never seen by the public until it was leaked in 2015 by a former intern.

I think a better song to broadcast as the world ends is Monty Python’s “always look on the bright side of life”
Or maybe “It’s the End of the World as We Know It.”
… and I feel fine!
Or and empty channel and a Nine Inch Nails album (choose any album)
That reminds me of when Cleveland’s 107.9 “The End” was going off air; it played that song for 24 hours straight as its final broadcast.
Or they could do So long and thanks for all the fish from the Hitch hiker’s guide to the galaxy movie
That movie kind of sucked but the music was good
I thought Bilbo and Slartibartfast were good in it, come to think of it I enjoyed the whole cast, even the added bits with the snotty religion guy
Of the cast, I only disliked one of them and it had nothing to do with his performance. Yasim as Ford was such a good surprise choice and Rockwell was absolutely born to play Zaphod. The cast was stellar imo, but the project (mos) def had other issues…
every other song would be a better joice? 🤷
I can’t imagine the world is ending and I’m inside watching a 45 year old terrible video on CNN. I hope I could find something more meaningful in my last moments than watching Christian apocalypse porn lite.
Is this to be our Swan Lake?
Reminds me of this video from Local 58 https://youtu.be/3c66w6fVqOI
