The State Department on Tuesday warned citizens against any travel to Venezuela, where it says more U.S. nationals are currently wrongfully detained than in any other country.
The department has ramped up its warnings to Americans not to travel to the South American country, urging citizens earlier this month to prepare a will if they plan to travel there.

Sure but do you think when they say more than any other country they fairly compared it to the US?
US citizens that travel to Venezuela should be aware of not insignificant risc of being detained for political reasons. It is a valid concern, and same applies for venezolanos going to US.
I’m in Canada and my cousin asked for advice on travelling to Europe. He was about to book a flight that would have a stop over in New York and I told him that whatever you do … DON’T GO INTO THE US … I even offered to give him the couple hundred bucks to book a different more direct flight because he was trying to save money.
