Check out the gammon opposing it. Landowners of course, the lot of them

The only reason you’d be opposing national park status is because you are a hill farmer who wants to control yet more land either by removing more people, or converting to far too lucrative tree plantations. Fuck em

What is going on right now?! In an age when we need to be protecting/encouraging whatever nature we’ve got left, all of these numpties are wielding their ill-deserved power against it.

The luxury houses and themeparks get to decimate our wild lands (and us by extension). But anything remotely helpful to nature (and therefore our own health) is challenged at every stage.

Don’t even get me started on the other, frankly bizarre, environmental choices I see around.

They’ve rapidly become the only option worth considering, to me. Gave a decade to the SNP, who seem to have no will anymore to do the thing they are titled after. “Labour” are worse, and I’m not touching the others with a bargepole.

Given AMS, SNP/Green is still the most bang for buck indy wise imo in Holyrood. But SGP are making inroads everywhere. It would be good to see Harvey having a stab at MP next election

I don’t know much about how national parks work in practice but they seem to be a way to create little feifdoms for people to get into positions of power, even if it is just the power to say you can’t park in a certain place overnight.

As opposed to the landed gentry doing what they want? National parks help bring ownership away from landlords who show a persistent inability to think about anyone else but their heirs
