It’s from the show “I think you should leave.” There’s a sketch where someone has crashed a weinermobile into a storefront, and bystanders are like “did anyone get hurt?” “What happened to the driver?” And then this guy shows up.

Thanks for attempting an answer. I’ve got to say this feels laughable in light of what’s going on.
Interesting article for a few reasons. I didn’t realize how much Pakistan was reliant on Chinese military systems.
Very challenging situation. To me seems like the thing to focus on is lack of electoral legitimacy. Maybe I’m using the wrong frame of reference coming from a larger country, but $8 million a year for a country’s leadership expenses doesn’t seem overly expensive. But I do understand being mad to spend any money on people who haven’t been chosen by the country’s citizens.
I’ll quote my reply to the other person:
OP said “maybe something good will come out of this” and you said look at history, the best that will happen is some minor temporary improvement. I pointed out several significant long lasting advances. I don’t see where anything you said here disproves that.
As I said, yes, there are significant problems we need to address. But being negative to the point of denying reality isn’t some act of resistance, it’s capitulation. Telling people there’s no hope helps the enemy.

Have you read U.S. history?
Despite the land of freedom hype, we started as a country where only land owning white men could vote, and slavery was law. As flawed as things are now (and there will always be a need to improve and fight injustice) slavery has been abolished, all men and women can vote, child labor abolished, 40 hour work week, gay marriage legal.
We should be realistic and honest about the bad things happening right now. But if we don’t believe it’s possible for things to get better (doomerism) then it’s much less likely they will, and believing that ignores the actual historical evidence.
Lol at first I thought they were talking about population shrinking.
Not my problem. I also like how the chart has a legend showing what colors they would use if the city was rising. “Albuquerque is getting taller!”
I guess these other countries don’t want to draw Trump’s attention and also receive high tariffs?
Otherwise seems like a win for them. They don’t have to produce the goods, they just add a percentage on top.
So the article says the detained workers were authorized to be in the country. It doesn’t sound like anyone has said why they’re being detained. Not to oversell it, but that seems like classic tyranny.
I’ve seen more informative reporting from 404 media and others, Signal had more or less said they can’t guarantee security for third party apps. Which makes sense, I can’t guarantee a house I didn’t build is safe. The OP link also talks about how the hacked company is Oregon based, which is technically true that they’re registered there. But the reporting I had read indicated the company was founded and is run by a former Israeli security officer, and has offices in Israel.
You got it. Thanks for giving us a tiny respite from endless toil, God!
Wasn’t there some question if Shatner was actually running his account?
There’s no organization in America which is more regularly infringing on a dog’s territory than the U.S. postal service.
Interesting. What time period would you say this was? I grew up in the 90s and don’t recall seeing that.
To create a pedestrian first world I think we need to legitimately understand what advantages a car has. A car is a true source of empowerment.
Sure, I can ride a bike, but I could never ride a bike 300 miles for a weekend trip to any arbitrary destination. I can take a bus but not at any moment, and not the middle of the night. I can take public transit, but not to the place I need to go.
A car is a portable personal space. I can eat lunch in my car, I can take a nap.
A car is a space protected from the elements - I’m not getting rained on. Protection from wind, snow, sun.
Its locked doors are a barrier between me and potential (and sometimes imagined) threats.
I don’t need to list out for this community all the negative things associated with cars. I just list these pros to highlight it’s a challenging task to displace cars. It’s a list of benefits to replicate.
Build an exact replica of that area right next to the original. They’ll be confused, are they visiting the real ducks or a simulacrum of the ducks?
Good god, can we focus on the situation in front of us?
I voted for Harris even though she wasn’t my preferred candidate, and many others did too. The much more significant problem would be people who voted for Trump, or didn’t vote at all. Bashing uncommitted voters doesn’t improve our situation.
If the administration doesn’t obey the courts we all need to be prepared to take more extreme measures.
