Mickey7@lemmy.worldOPto Reddit@lemmy.world•How Reddit Became the Internet’s Most Left-Wing Platform24·3 days agoMaybe I’m strange but I enjoy reading lots of posted articles even if the headline conflicts with my personal view point/s. Many times you can actually get a better understanding of the opinions of those who disagree with you. I never reject a source. I prefer to read the article and then respond factually with the reasons I disagree with the posted article. Too often I see “I am rejecting the source” because they have no factual comeback.
Mickey7@lemmy.worldto Reddit@lemmy.world•Why is there a difference between a permaban and a suspension1·3 days agoHaving been through 3 perm bans and reinstatements, I have never heard of a suspension and wiping out your account. I have had “X” amount of days “suspended”. But during my perm bans all my previous account activity was visible. Even my favorite list of groups remained. I just couldn’t post or comment.
Mickey7@lemmy.worldto Reddit@lemmy.world•Why is there a difference between a permaban and a suspension2·3 days agoRegarding your point about them using AI with their new across the board Auto moderator - I wasn’t banned for this BUT my comment was flagged and removed by reddit admins. “Considering all the Jews murdered during the Holocaust” — now there is zero wrong with that comment but just because the word “murdered” is in the comment Auto Mod considers this calling for violence.

But they also love to post nude pictures of themselves in a NSFW group. So… only those in the NSFW group can see their posts…BUT the mods of the bird watching group can also still see them.
Mickey7@lemmy.worldOPto Reddit@lemmy.world•Reddit gives awards to their prick moderators42·7 days agoI understand a group mod controlling a specific group. If it’s the golf group you really don’t want people posting anti golf stuff. What I don’t understand is some general group like “news” and mods ban you because they don’t LIKE factual news articles that you post.

Mickey7@lemmy.worldOPto Technology@lemmy.world•You probably don't remember these but I have a questionEnglish515·9 days agoSorry I don’t understand your response. This old ipod is loaded with music down loaded from itunes. If I plug head phones into it (it has not bluetooth) it works fine. If I plug it into my stereo receiver in the house it works great. But if I plug it into the usb port in my car - it is not recognized. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
It may have general acceptance but you can’t be a fascist unless you have absolute control over your country. And so far at least, our country still has enough checks and balances to prevent that.
A literal fascist is hitler or mussolini. Using that term for anyone else is your opinion. “unless there was an assassin willing to shoot through a toddler” - come on you really didn’t think they would ban you for that? Big red flag just using the work “assassin”. I am not defending reddit . I have been perm banned 3 time. And always reinstated. But the last time perm ban lasted 2 years before they reinstated me. Let’s just say I know all the “third rails” at reddit. If you touch them you have to expect to get banned. I occasionally use it but now I really have to consider anything that I might post before I do it. It’s not about what you want to post or comment, now it’s about what they will allow.
My account is 12 years old and I totally agree that things have changed regarding what is tolerated. Years ago it was common place to see threads of users going after each other calling each other “a fucking asshole” and worse.
I am not saying this applies to you but many times someone will say I was banned for saying “mean things” but what they really mean is they called for violence or death of a public figure or another reddit user. Anyone who does that is immediately perm banned. And you can’t back track it and say “I really didn’t mean it”. Add to that calling someone a fascist and you are gone. The list is long but the basics are never call for violence and you can disagree with someone but you can’t call them a “name” while doing it.
Cookies are just one thing that can linger. I’ve also seen people not delete a reddit extension in their browser which also immediately identifies you
I was just curious if there is a period of time that passes before their system basically purges “banned” IP’s. They can’t possibly have specific IP’s that are forever banned
Mickey7@lemmy.worldto Reddit@lemmy.world•What was the dumbest reason you got banned from reddit?1·16 days agoTHIS is a key point that most don’t understand. There are some auto mod filters that will automatically block your post or comment, but it doesn’t result in a ban. Site wide bans happen because of “reports” which draws the attention of Admins
Look out for the reddit “kill” cookie that will linger in your browser
Agreed. When I first came here I thought Lemmy would be open to all points of view.
Agreed. Since most of it seems auto mod now you can say something perfectly innocent and find yourself banned
