My empathy for coal miners holds until they refuse to retrain to get out of their dying industry and support politicians who fight to repeal laws meant to stop us from poisoning the world just so they can keep their admittedly shitty jobs.

Institute drones. So, underground MIT shadow government.
Wow. You know there have to be people alive to fix this climate problem, right? “Oh, we done fucked the world up, time to species suicide!”
Drink some tea, dude.
Poor kid. It’s the mom who should be punished, not him. Obviously, there are ethics considerations but these are the kinds of stories that make me momentarily feel like forced sterilization isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
Republicans: “We have learned nothing from prohibition and refuse to try!”
This is not normal behavior. This person is a sociopath and society needs to know who he is.
I wish people would stop throwing clinical terms around like this. Socio/psychopathy is a complicated psychiatric disorder with distinct behavioral and psychological markers, not a synonym for “evil.”
Sadly, you don’t need a psychiatric disorder to engage in despicable behavior. “Normal” people are quite capable of being racist, sexist douchebags, and most racist, sexist douchebags are not mentally ill. Bigotry is a product of culture, not abnormal psychology.
I don’t think this is a particularly bright segment of the population we’re talking about here.
Because it’s what makes us better than him.
Criminals don’t care about the rule of law. Does that mean we civilians should just execute shoplifters in the streets without trial or due process?
What are you talking about? He got SCOTUS to say everything he does as president is legal, remember? He’ll never do time for anything.
No! They’ll steal our jobs!
Catholic Church = Child Molester Haven.
Pretty simple.
And that had absolutely nothing to do with international relations. Instead, it was due to a cult infiltrating his party and getting him on the bad side of a disgruntled family member when their beliefs lead to the death of his mother.
He’s going to get accidentally sent to El Salvador.
So, you’re okay with a whole bunch of people who have no problem with vaccines die because they live next to anti-vaxxers?
Wow, so noble. You really are a moral person and not some idiot wanking your anger boner on the internet.
Because
AmericanTrump voters evidently have the cognitive skills of a fucking sea sponge.
FTFU.
I’m curious: the person you replied to didn’t say they were comparable, so why did you feel the need bring it up?
In my experience, people who point that out when no one has made the comparison are usually insecure about an issue that affects men getting attention and potentially eclipsing the issue affecting women. Like people who point out that female victims of domestic violence die more often from their assaults during discussions about male victims of domestic violence.
You sure you wanna be that person? Try harder not to be, please.
Yeah—personal preference. As in, not the preference of the fucking parents.
OP since original D&D.
All right, so taste aside, I would make the argument that Dickens’ writing is absolutely not “top class” by virtue of the fact that he was paid by the word and many have argued this contributed to his style of employing a lot of run-on sentences in his work. Don’t get me wrong—I do think he was a good writer, but I tend to agree that his verbosity detracted from the quality of his writing, not added to it.
