  • The problem isn’t pirates, it’s films and series being available in one country and unavailable in another. It’s greedy af streaming services that keep raising the prices, having a small percentage of overall films and series available and expecting people to get a handful(!) of those, 15€ or more per service(!) just to have some sort of half decent coverage. On top of all that, they keep raising prices while introducing ads for their paid tier(!), they further raid their library of media just so that the consumer is left with mostly crap and maybe a vanishing number of quality films and series.

I don’t know why today, but I’m furious. When having a headache because of a tumor, then the headache isn’t the problem and aspirin isn’t the cure. The problem is the tumor and it needs to be treated chemically, surgically or via radiation.

Piracy is not the problem. It’s the symptom that has been pointing to the actual problem: capitalist greed.

For the longest time I’ve paid for streaming services, still do. But after sitting for over half an hour trying to figure out whether I should watch crappy series 1, 2, 3, 4 or maybe 5, … I refuse to finance some capitalist’s yacht with that. It’s literally degraded to me handing over money, full stop. It’s a one-directional transaction which does not happen in my favour.

I’m angry, hence the vent. I couldn’t care less about some arse not getting my money. I hope they choke on their caviar. My breaking point is reached. Long live piracy.
