Depends on you - can you deal with asking yourself tricky questions and finding good answers? Or does the challenge make you uncomfortable?

quick question - what the hell do you do with a modern computer without internet access anyways?
but there is no real monetary incentive right now.
dude, solar energy is literally the cheapest form of energy right now. there is a real monetary incentive.
i’d like to be a labor leader, but i’m not (yet). Yet here’s my opinion:
Knowledge was meant to be free since the beginning. I look at ideas as human-cultivated, carefully cultured viruses. They’re packages of information that live within a host.
They’re a lot less aggressive than their feral counterparts, but they’re still individual beings who want to spread. Holding back knowledge is unnatural, and the internet should be free.
Water dissociates in the presence of electrical voltage into hydrogen and oxygen, and that makes it somewhat conductive (due to ionisation).
The bigger problem however is corrosion. Said oxygen causes corrosion.
the onion can not keep up with this, because fiction has to be believable, unlike reality ;-)
No shit sherlock.
But the decline in real (inflation-adjusted) wages is a broader phenomenon and not constrained to gig-works, and that’s what deserves attention.
Background:
For years, inflation has been under-reported. Inflation should be measured mostly based on food-items, as the production methods don’t change over time in these areas, so prices there (inflation-adjusted) should stay constant. But if you look at official inflation rates, they are much lower (approx. 1% annually). Since wages barely keep up with official inflation, they fall behind on “food”-inflation. And that principle is basically at the core of the current “cost-of-living”-crisis.
The basic issue is that wages are dropping because progress is ending. Progress creates demand for human labor, and that keeps wages up. Since progress worldwide is slowing down, that depresses wages. That’s why we need fundamental reform, or revolution.
Or we need to find new progress. I’m all for mars settlement btw, just that many people here can’t imagine it happening (yet). But we’ll see.
Efficiency standards are a two-sided thing:
Now, the engineering complexity requires able engineers to design and build the machine, which creates a stronger demand for engineers. That would be good for blue-collar workers.
I fiirmly believe that people are doing badly and suffering because they don’t listen to themselves and their body.
If MAGA starts accepting its own body, they will get waay more powerful.
privatize profits, socialize losses …
yep, image has been accurate for a long time now.
i guess people have distorted ideas about flirting. here’s how i see it:
be aware of your goals
be honest to yourself (what do you really want)
communicate clearly. be aware of what you want and make no mystery out of it in front of the other person. if you hold back, you’re blocking yourself, and that can’t be good.
don’t be an asshole. that’s difficult in today’s society where everything seems to be about exploitation and profit optimization, but there used to be a world long ago that was non-exploitative, consensus-oriented. try to feel that vibe
that should be it. if you’re not an asshole, nothing bad should happen to you. however, that is practically not the case today. whatever wrong twist “feminism” took in recent years to convince society that “all men are assholes” is splitting society apart. it’s provocing a civil war. society must find its senses and reject the forceful-splitting-between-women-and-men of society. in a time where even a glance is “sexual harassment” and women project their mental health issues on men and call it all their fault, is a world that is no longer honest and does therefore IMHO no longer deserve to exist.
I really don’t like to be the “well acktschually” guy but the major constraint for a mars settlement is the availability of water. mars is inhabitable (with the help of technology ofc) wherever there is water, probably it in the form of ice underground. Various research missions are currently mapping that out. Here’s a map from around 2000:
I’m saying it: automation leads to less demand for human labor, and by the rule of the market that leads to lower prices (wages) for human labor. that trend is not gonna revert, unless humanity finds a totally new field in which economic growth can happen (which, at least on planet earth, is unlikely). that’s why jobs don’t pay living wages anymore, and people need universal basic income. there is no alternative. tax the rich to pay for it, as they become the only ones who can afford it.
reddit was never open-source and community-hosted
Well … just like the US economy is kept alive by the constant threat of unemployedness and therefore homelessness, the US society is kept moving by the constant “winning group”/“losing group” divide. If you would heal incels, there would be no “losing group” to look down upon anymore, and the US would have to create a new one, thus perpetuating the problem.
