TIL google developed the RCS protocol.
Another reason for me to leave it off.
They’re referring to iOS devices, the Read Receipts toggle on iOS is for iMessage not RCS.
I personally left RCS off until Apple addresses this.
You just said you’ve never used a Steam Deck.
Correct, have yet to touch SteamOS.
Multiple people have told you why what you’re saying is ridiculous.
How is what I said ridiculous? Is the market all of a sudden no longer Windows dominated?
I get it, SteamOS is essentially Steams Big Picture mode locked down however, the minute someone wants to mod one of their games using software made for Windows that they find on Nexus mods or Se7enSins they’ll run into issues or a novel of documentation for a workaround.
The vast majority of people don’t want to sit and troubleshoot for hours on end for a single mod, they want it to work out of the gate and that’s where SteamOS/Linux currently falls flat.
I literally have no idea what I’m talking about
Care to at all elaborate then?
Last time I checked Windows still dominates the market on personal desktop/laptop computers, most people don’t want to sit and read documentation on how to get specific software to work with their device, they just want it to work without hassle.
The Steam Deck kicked off great however, I see people flocking to the Windows alternatives like the ASUS ROG Ally because they don’t want to deal with Linux or the Bash shell.
Edit; I don’t know why this is being downvoted, I haven’t touched SteamOS so I’m comparing it to Debian 12 where BASH knowledge is essential.
Late to the party but I decided to pickup a 13th gen ASUS NUC with an i7 over a prebuilt NAS, bought a couple external hard-disk bays setup Proxmox running a headless Debian 12 VM and almost everything runs great however, mistake was using Debian 12 because the Linux kernel is pretty far out of date and does not support the CPU properly.
It’s infuriating that Safari/Apple only allows me to choose from five different search engines. I self-host my own SearXNG instance and have to use a third-party extension to redirect my queries.
It’s unlikely but I’m hoping my company switches to Linux based operating systems.
Does your laptop have 2 GPU’s?
NVIDIA Optimus sucks for Linux, I would suggest looking into EnvyControl and forcing your xorg & xrandr to use your NVIDIA GPU primarily and not the iGPU.
5 companies, each own a portion of the internet like it’s the stock market.
I’ve used Unbound for years but recently had to switch to Blocky for some weird reason.
Blocky doesn’t appear to be a Recursive DNS resolver? It seems to still rely on upstream providers whereas Unbound directly communicates with the root distributors for the domains you lookup.
You are spreading disinformation, because it is not true that guns are banned “outright”.
But i’m not though?
Three different re-classifications issued by the Canadian Government. Long story short - You can no longer; purchase, sell or take these firearms out of your safe/lock-box so, yes, i would say calling them banned for recreational use is fair and justified.
But How many more votes are really at stake thru your (apparently) favored pet issue? How many Canadians who would consider voting lib do you really think are single issue gun voters?
I would refer you to my other comment made.
People who have a PAL/RPAL that weren’t too political before their license are more likely to be involved with politics after getting their license given all the regulations around firearms.
I still don’t think they would’ve gotten a lot more seats/votes if they hadn’t passed this law.
I believe I must disagree here! People who have a PAL/RPAL that weren’t too political before their license are more likely to be involved with politics after getting their license given all the regulations around firearms.
Though I really wish Carney’s platform could address questionable decision by the previous catastrophic PM like Bill C-21, C-18, and C-75 among many others.
You and me both.
Liberals would’ve won a lot more votes if they enacted sensible firearms laws instead of banning guns outright.
For those who aren’t big into firearms to put into perspective majority of firearms banned were chambered in 22lr (.22 Long Rifle) which most people would call a “learning caliber”, something you would give to a 15yo to learn the sport or for plinking pop bottles/cans.
Need the pin to access them notes.
The day I do the old fashioned sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
and everything suddenly breaks is when I know I’m on Debian 13.
I’ve a single Pihole instance running on a RPi 4 and have experienced not a single instance of any of the 3 probs you mention. Except, of course, the very few minutes it takes for a reboot which I can schedule and am aware when it’s happening…
Yeah, I believe it can vary depending on how you host it.
In my experience whenever I brought down the PiHole instance (Docker Compose) I would lose all internet access, which is expected since I’m essentially taking away my devices one and only library, so to mitigate this I spun up PiHole on another device and set that as my secondary (backup) DNS resolver.
This way I can take a container down, update it and all without losing resolution to the internet.
My ASUS WRT router running Merlin firmware offers to host a WireGuard server, I simply use the WireGuard app, dump the config file in and hit connect.
Took a little configuration but eventually got it working how I want it.
Edit: Reason for the Merlin Firmware is because I can route my VPN server through my VPN provider, goes a little like this;
5G/LTE > WireGuard to my router > Router routes that connection to ProtonVPN
This gives me access to the resources in my home while also reaping the benefits of my VPN provider.
Apple left this little note in their article;
Which leads to believe the toggle is for iMessage only.
This is what I’ve heard from my Android homies as well, it’s very much a hit or miss it seems.
