There are interesting stories and background to the song, and the band, Wall Of Voodoo, and the music video.
I misremembered: It’s beehaw that defederated from lemmy.world and sh.itjust.works
That’s bad news because of the large numbers of communities and users on .world and sjw
For example, there was an instance named lemmy.film that isn’t there anymore, but you can still find content that was posted on it on all but the newest instances.
Bad news for you: Lemmy was created and is maintained by “tankies”
But don’t be so choosy with your allies, or you’ll find yourself standing alone.
If someone subscribed beforehand to content from Instance B, it’ll still be there on your instance A’s cache, but there will be no new content after defederation, if that makes any sense.
I would avoid lemmy.world, just to spread the risk around.
A mid sized instance like lemmy.ca, lemmy.cafe, sopuli.xyz should work well
And of course, check to see that your prospective new instance isn’t de-federated from communities that are important to you, or something else strange, like lemmy.zip allegedly geoblocks UK IP addresses.
Some large instances are defederated from lemmynsfw.com, so if those /c’s are important to you…
lemmy.ml is defedded from ani.social, so if any of those /c’s are important to you…
Several instances are defedded from hexbear.net, beehaw.org. Again, if you like any /c’s on those instances…
And of course, if an instance hosts a lot of groups that are important to you, it might be a good idea to sign up there.
Let’s agree to disagree on that one.
This is a dig at the way statistics are presented, such as “The average American family has 1.5 children” for example.
That’s not an accurate statistic, just an example.
This is a barely recognizable reference to Broom Hilda, the titular witch character in a syndicated American comic strip.
I’m not super-familiar with the strip, but I don’t remember the character having any notable fascination with brooms.
Is this a younger Broom Hilda?
I am reading that lemmy.zip geoblocks UK IP addresses due to stupid UK Online Safety Act of 2023, so maybe suggest a different instance for UK users?
Me too. Piefed looks interesting, but I’m happy to keep using Lemmy’s web interface and Voyager.
As long as Lemmy users can migrate somewhere and be supported.
The lemm.ee shutdown might give new priority to that feature.
It’s the 3rd largest Lemmy instance, so it will affect a lot of users. https://fedidb.com/software/lemmy

Even Henry Ford understood this, and paid his automobile factory workers well so they could also be his customers.
Does the web page game work for you? Mine just sits there.
I think he ate a sandwich with moldy rye bread before coming up with that one
