Ah okay, you want to see me mad.

Klarna, like any of the other “small loans” or “get now and pay later” companies are slimy bag of shite parasites of society. Their business model is being a shark loan on hungry and poor people.

These are the disgusting pieces of trash:

One day their faces and names will be removed from the website but their crimes won’t. Mamma mia.

Ok, are you also that mad about Credit Cards or PayPal?

Or are you just mad about Klarna because they’ve got the most media coverage?

I dont think they are a fair comparison to what essentially pay day loan companies.

I am happy they are european, it means not just their operations but their data is probably to a higher standard. That said, they are absolutely everywhere now encouraging people to over spend and making everyday items more expensive for the lowest paid class of people.

Klarna offers many payment options. (Credit Cards, Instant Bank Transfer from your Account, SEPA Direct Debit, by Bill etc…) Buy Now Pay Later is just one of them.

There is no difference to PayPal or CreditCards where you can also buy stuff with money you don’t have (hence the “Credit” in Credit Card) or PayPals “Pay in 30 days or installments”-Option.

              Or what am I missing?

I was referring specifically to buy now pay later, like humm. I didnt know paypal offered that, they sucked way before that. Credit cards seem to have stricter controls on them.

We don’t usually use credit cards in europe. We don’t have credit scores here, the majority use DEBIT cards. Which is the opposite.

We don’t have credit scores here

That couldn’t be more wrong, at least in Germany we have SCHUFA scores, which are essentially the same. You won’t ever rent an apartment, get a bank account or a phone contract without a good score with them.

And Credit Cards are also widespread. True we don’t use them in everyday life much, but for travelling abroad or online Shopping. And the Debit versions become more popular in the last years. But for renting a car and stuff the “real” credit cards are still essential

Yes I’m also very fucking mad about those but it doesn’t seem the topic of the thread.

You are welcome to do more whataboutism and prove even more that you understood nothing about the topic.

Perhaps you also wanna share why you support parasites? Please, teach me.

Because they offer many more legit payment options than “Buy now, pay later”. And I very much prefer to use Klarna when paying online than PayPal, because at least the money doesn’t go to Trump. SEPA Direct Debit is my favourite, but it isn’t offered in many online Stores.

You’ve already forgotten where you post?

How do you pay for your online Shopping? By Carrier Pigeon? Or do you mail the money physically in?

I guess not, and that you are using either Credit Cards or PayPal

              So stop being a hypocrite

Damn, you got me wow. 🙌

The main business model of Klarna is buy now pay later, they do other stuff because this is fate of corporations aiming for monopoly.

Now it’s the onboarding people/losing capital moment, they will also suck your dick if you subscribe to the loyalty program.

Regarding my personal life (which is none of your business) I shop locally and pay cash. If I really really have to shop online i use local payment processors like SEPA, satispay or ideaal (we have many) or in extremis my debit card. More questions?

Though, Klarna really isn’t a good company. I read a lot about collection letters, low-quality service, non-existent customer support, so you can’t even settle things, not doing a lot against identity theft, layoffs… They’re a Swedish company, so European. But that’s pretty much all the positive things about them.

        Hard agree. Legalised loan sharking.

They seem to appear a lot in these “buy European” communities. Still trying to work out if it’s me (bias, etc), if people are just desperate to share any “made in EU” content, or if they’re doing guerilla marketing. 🤷‍♂️

They are doing marketing. I feel many companies are reading lemmy and try to gauge sympathy and market reputation.

Klarna pr marketing if you are reading, i hope you get explosive spray diarrhea.

I think it’s called blind actionism. But I feel (your) strong words won’t help here. People need to be educated. And it’s not like they have a good option to pick. The options with payment providers are mainly: bad and worse. But you should be aware once you sign a contract with the devil…
