The moment that Oceangate’s Titan submersible was lost has been revealed in footage recorded on the sub’s support ship.

Titan imploded about 90 minutes into a descent to see the wreck of the Titanic in June 2023, killing all five people on board.

The footage was recently obtained by the USCG and shows Wendy Rush, the wife of Mr Rush, hearing the sound of the implosion while watching on from the sub’s support ship and asking: “What was that bang?”

I feel for the 19 year old. He was scared out his mind, didnt want to be there, and his dad MADE HIM GO.

At least it was quick but still fuck that asshole.

Interpreting “drop two weights” as “we need to ascend” only 90 minutes into the journey, right before the implosion, could mean they likely knew shit was about to go sideways. They were probably just starting to panic and then, pop.

And what a dickhead making his son go with him. Poor guy.

One of my best friends died when his fishing vessel capsized in Alaskan waters basically over new years. The coast guard basically gave up that night. I was not angry at the CG at the time because it’s just how it is, there is basically next to no chance of survival unless you got on a life boat and it’s something you are taught, just a fact of life in a fishing village. So when they were searching for that fucking sub for weeks long after they would have run out of air or water I was beyond pissed.

Fuck rhe coast guard. If they want to be real military they can go homeless and OD on fent. Fuck this cunt wife of his i hope the dispare makes her end her life. Fuck their families. These people are cancer and deserve what they get. Fuck them. Overprivlaged fucking animals are a blight.

Edit: okay I calmed down a bit. I guess I can’t be that angry at the CG as those rescue crews are one of the few members of the military that are actually useful even when they are being wasted on the rich I can still hate the leadership though.

      I hear you.

Search and rescue is complex ethically.

Australia has the largest maritime search and rescue area and our GDP is tiny compared to most other countries. Shit gets really expensive mounting missions to the middle of the Indian ocean like for the mf370 flight and stuff.

I think the basic premise with search and rescue is that the expense is mostly disregarded if there’s any likelihood that someone is still alive.

I suspect that these guys knew that, and didn’t disclose that they’d heard this bang such that resources continued to be provided for the search. Who knows what I would’ve done. As an external party it’s clearly “wrong” but I’ll leave others to judge them for it.

I get that a lot. Not even drunk ATM this shitnjust infuriates me. So much of my life growing up was with the understanding of how dangerous the ocean is and how unlikely you are to survive falling into the ocean and how fast it will kill you. We did drills in school so we could get survival suits on in under 30 seconds. Whenever I hear a really loud alarm clock go off I get ptsd and wake up in a panic trying to find a survival suit in my own home

It’s almost like finding Santa isn’t real all over again only at least then I still felt like my life matered

Asking “what was that bang?” instead of saying “oh shit” was extremely professional of her.

She probably had no idea, doesn’t look like she has any background in this type of work. If you watch the video, you can tell the two guys with her instantly know something has gone wrong.

If you have someone you love on there, you are going to think of everything possible before you admit they are gone and no one can help them.

I didn’t see any realization. She got a message just after and responded to it like nothing happened.
